Today I finished my first assignment. I did a story of a monster in the basement because when I was young I would only go downstairs with the sun shining and my dad with me which was because of the sounds that I would hear at night. To start the project I go to an extreme wide with a man on the porch. Next, I go over the shoulder on a text message. The third is a close up of the face next is a point of view going downstairs. 4th is a point of view shot going downstairs into the dark. After that is a medium shot of a man in the garage prepping his tools. Last, is a shot where the camera is on the ground and you don't know what really happened. I choose these shots because this whole process was very new so I tried to think out of the box a little bit but making sure I did not put to much pressure on the six shots that I was not familiar with. I learned how to overcome challenges because I shot a scene twice but then scratched it when I got a new idea and this taught me the importance of planning. I then learned the importance of understanding what you are doing because while I was acting my brother was not filming and he made a couple of mistakes which was resolved when he took his time and once that happened it became really easy. Overall, I was extremely proud that I created this video and the progress that I have seen in myself. To watch it click here

To start this project our class was asked to look at the most famous six-word story by Ernest Hemingway "For sale: baby shoes, never worn". It is interesting to see how it came about since it is a mystery. People believe that he wrote it on a napkin in a restaurant. Some say he wrote it in a hotel however most do believe that it was made because of a 10 dollar bet that he made with other writers. The only problem with these theories is Hemingway probably didn't write the story because starting in 1906 there were stories written called for "For Sale, Baby Carriage, Never Used." There are many other examples of stories like an article published in 1917 that had the title of "Little Shoes, Never Worn." The meaning of the story from what I have gathered is that it is in the eye of the beholder because he does not mention a meaning. The significance of the story is that it created a foundation for a new brand of story writing that anyone can do that can be just as powerful as an essay in a short amount of time. One of the stories I saw as I was looking for examples was Sorry soldier, shoes sold in pairs, which I liked because I could get the story of this soldier who lost his leg and it is a powerful story. The second one I liked was another powerful one that as soon as you read it you understand the story the paramedics finished her text, “love you”.
